FAQs

Are the Zelanga Shades Carports waterproof?

Waterproof, no. Water resistant, yes.

Australia is the driest populated continent on earth, with only 1% of the world’s water, so why spend money trying to protect our cars from something we don’t have enough of, when what we should be doing is protecting our cars from the sun’s harsh U.V. rays which creates far more damage than rain.
If you are using a Zelanga Shade as an outdoor entertainment cover, you will be pleased to know that you will remain dry during light showers. If the rain gets too heavy, you probably should be thinking about retreating inside anyway!

What sizes are available?

We manufacture single (3 x5 x 2.15H) and double (5 x 5.5 x 2.15H) shadecloth carports.

Will I need council approval?

To the best of our knowledge, no. Zelanga Shades was originally designed to bypass the need for council approval. Despite the permanent integrity of a Zelanga Shade, it is classed as a “temporary” structure, as it is removed easily (as you would an umbrella). That said, every council is different, so we recommend that you call your local council to double check.

To what strength winds will it withstand?

Our carports have been wind tested at speeds of 41m per second in category 3 terrain. Even in higher winds (such as a cyclone), the shadecloth is easily removed, leaving a structure which will withstand almost anything. Once the storm has passed, simply re-cover your Zelanga Shade.

Can I install a Zelanga Shade on grass or do I need a concrete base?

Thanks to the ingenious Mega Anchor fitting, your Zelanga Shade will stand proudly and just as strongly on grass! We use screw pile OR mega anchor depending on conditions.

What colours are available?

The shadecloth comes in a range of colours (link to colours). Selected colours are 98% UV protected as well as flame retardant. There is a 10 year warranty on the shade cloth.
